Social Media Ruined me

Dear stranger,
Social media - It's a love-hate relationship. Social media, while it is amazing to be able to see what's going on with the click of a button or to be doing what I'm doing right now, expressing how I feel. It has had such a negative impact on me. I was allowed social media at a young age with no supervision and that fucked me up. There is one main memory or action from social media that still affects me to this day. I was in elementary school on the bus and got dared by older kids to watch porn. I wanted to be cool so I did. That one time, ruined my life. I became addicted in elementary school. I would watch it whenever I could and it started to take over my life. A few months later, the tablet I had at the time stopped working and my parents found the hundreds of tabs. (I didn't know I could clear tabs) The things I would watch were horrible. After that, they monitored me but I still found a way. Flash forward a few years, the addiction didn't get any better and I got better at hiding it. I'm older now and am just now doing something about my addiction. I've even gained others on the way but I'm working on those as well. My point is that social media at a young age has affected the way I view the world today and some days I wish my parents were stricter in that way. I also understand they had their own life. For the most part, they were at work. I know they were stressing over how they were going to pay rent or get food so I don't blame them. They, just like me, were doing the best they could.
