Future

Dear Stranger,

I've graduated and everyone keeps asking me what I want to do with my life. I blink the words dying in my throat as it closes up. My eyes dart to my parents for help before I realize they're no longer there. I look back with a strained smile muttering a simple "I'm going to take a gap year." They nod with a: "Good idea." The conversation dies. I am indeed going to take a gap year but after? If someone went as far as to ask I'd say college but if I was honest, I dont know. Maybe I'll get a job, maybe college, maybe...

Like I said, I dont know. I'm still young, I'm still figuring everyhting out. The future is so uncertain, it's scary but I want to believe in the end everything will be okay. I want to have hope in the future.
